Tell us a little bit about yourself ?
I grew up in Rye, New York and later moved to White Plains, NY. My husband & I lived in Hartsdale, NY for 4 years before moving to Stamford, CT in 2014. I have a 3.5 year old daughter and a 10 year old dog!
One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I have always had a job working with children either in a school setting or in their homes. I have a BA in Psychology, MA in Early Childhood Special Education, MA in Counseling and a Certification as a child sleep consultant. While I was in college I performed in a student run theatre organization.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My husband, parents and in-laws all take an active role in my child’s life. I am so thankful that they love to spend time with her, get down on the floor and are ready to jump into any activity she is passionate about. We have regular family babysitters which is a huge bonus for the whole family.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
We love to take our daughter to any place that allows her to be creative, think and explore. Some of our favorite places to visit are the Stamford Nature Center, playgrounds, Ice Skating, local Pool Club, Norwalk Maritime Aquarium, Westchester Children’s Museum and the local beaches. We do frequent play dates with our community friends and will usually do a weekend athletic class with our daughter (swimming, soccer etc.).
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization or a creative endeavor?
My private child sleep coaching business is called Peaceful Sleep Consulting www.peacefulsleepconsulting.com. I work with parents and their children (birth to age 5) either in person or remotely on a range of sleep challenges such as multiple night awakenings, cat naps, bedtime battles, schedule changes, transition from crib to bed or poor sleep associations. I focus on taking the time to really get to know the parents and children I work with, then customize a sleep plan of action that is aligned with the family’s philosophies. Once a sleep plan is mutually agreed upon by the family, I coach them through the plan until they reach their desired sleep goals.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
While I am somewhat new to the community, I have already found a consistent solid group of friends that are supportive, warm and feel like I have known them for many years. I have found the moms in this community to be smart, amazing, hardworking, creative, and nurturing women. A number of my friends have hired me to help them work through their children’s sleep struggles and referred my business. I am grateful for their continued support and guidance as I navigate this exciting business venture.
