Valentine’s Day Photo Ideas | Sound Shore Moms of Westchester

Happy Valentine’s Day! I love any excuse to snap photos of my kids and create fun memories to look back on.  I’ve done the classic “kiss the baby with lipstick” shoot and ended up with a stained rug and shirt.  When the twins were babies, I tried to dress them up like cupid, only to have them pee everywhere and end up with a mouthful of feathers.  Over the years I’ve realized that forced photo shoots usually result in cranky kids that don’t want to have anything to do with sitting still and smiling.  Here are some easy ways to capture the moments without the meltdowns!

Give them a book!  It was so sweet to see my daughter Zoey line up her bunnies and read to them! She looked extra adorable wearing her favorite dress from mom owned, small shop Be Mi.

Cut up construction paper and make confetti! This activity kept her busy for awhile, and she kept scooping it up and throwing it again and again. We love this soft and simple romper, and Zoey was so excited that it had a pocket to store her confetti in!

Get outdoors! Most of my favorite photos are taken outside…its where I feels the happiest and there are lots of opportunities to play with lighting.

Use some simple accessories!  Zoey had so much fun dressing up in heart tights and playing with a lips whistle!

Bribery! So this one is obviously nothing new and we usually try not to do this, but sometimes the photos of kids eating a holiday themed treat come out really cute!

Snap an action shot! Put on some music and dance- Zoey couldn’t stop twirling in this gorgeous Mila Mesh Dress.

Do an activity! We baked and decorated our own cakes with this adorable kit and I was able to snap some pics of the kids having fun!
