7 Ways to Prevent Gun Violence | Sound Shore Moms of Westchester

Does this image and its message shock and anger you ??!  Does the state of our country make you feel helpless and overwhelmed with fear, sadness, outrage and confusion? Of course it does!  I know I’m not alone in these feelings and I also know I don’t want to sit idly by because inaction (by our lawmakers) is the very thing that is killing our children and fellow Americans.

Everytown.org and Moms Demand Action are asking for our help and giving us ways to DO SOMETHING.

THE POWER OF MOMS

(Excerpt from Momsdemandaction.org)

After the tragic shooting in Newtown, CT, many Americans were stunned to learn about the level of gun violence in our country. Stay-at-home mom Shannon Watts decided to do something about it and channel what moms were feeling into a movement to stop everyday violence.

What started as a single Facebook page has grown into a nationwide movement. In the past year, moms have taken on Starbucks for allowing customers to carry concealed, loaded guns in its stores—and won. They called on Facebook to crack down on illegal gun sales on its platform—and won. And they’re calling on state and national lawmakers to enact common-sense gun laws that will protect our kids.
