Since 1952, SJP School has been providing a quality, affordable Catholic education for children in grades Pre-K to 8th grade in a beautiful and safe environment which emphasizes faith, academic excellence, and service to those in need. At the 8th grade graduation this past June, the SJP School valedictorian, in her magnificent address to the class of 2024, emphasized that SJP School is a true family for her. It was incredibly beautiful to hear her speak about how SJP School is not only a place to learn to read, write and do science experiments, but a place that cultivates a family atmosphere. Administrators, faculty, staff, and families work together to provide a place where all can flourish in mind, heart, body, and soul.
In addition to all that you would expect of a Pre-K to 8th Catholic grade school, there are a number of things that make SJP stand out. With students from countries all around the world, the entire SJP school community is enriched by its international character. Just by stepping foot in the building and befriending classmates, SJP students are introduced to language, culture, and traditions from across the globe. Since Larchmont, Mamaroneck, and New Rochelle are home to a large Francophone community, SJP School offers a Fluent French Program, which was designated by the American Association of Teachers of French in 2023 as an Exemplary Program with Honors. SJP School was the only elementary school in the nation given this designation. It is also the only elementary school in the region certified to administer College Board Advanced Placement exams. Nearly all 8th grade students who take the College Board AP French Language and Culture exam each year at SJP School score a perfect “5.” In addition to hosting a Fluent French Program, SJP School also stands out among Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York by being the only one to offer all students the opportunity to study French and/or Spanish.
There are other areas in which SJP stands out among other Catholic schools. It is the only Catholic school
in the region to administer four NY State Regents Exams each year (Living Environment, Earth
Science/Physical Setting, Algebra I, and US American History and Government), and it is the only Catholic
school in the region which offers an Engineering and Enrichment Program to all students.
SJP School is also a welcome home for students who are in need of a bit of extra help in their studies.
SJP School has two full-time remediation specialists who work one-on-one with students who require
additional assistance in order to succeed. For international students, SJP offers an outstanding ESL
program. SJP School also has a devoted and caring counselor who is fluent in both English and French. It
is very important to us at SJP to provide all students with the tools they need for their particular
situation in order to flourish and excel.
Teaching our children to be service-oriented is a big part of our mission at SJP School. Students in all
grade levels participate in service activities throughout year. Among other projects, students make
bagged lunches each week for those struggling with food insecurity, they collect and distribute clothing,
and they write letters and cards to the sick, the elderly, and those serving our nation in the military. The
Community Service and Action Club is indeed the largest and most active club in the school, but by no
means the only one! Our students participate in a wide range of after-school extracurricular activities
that enrich their minds, strengthen their bodies, and enlighten their souls!
Children spend many hours in school each day. The place where they spend those hours matters!
Wouldn’t you want your children to be in a place that feels like home, a place that makes them feel like
they are part of a beautiful family, a place that helps them to flourish in mind, heart, body, and soul? We
welcome you to learn more about our Catholic school by visiting our website and by scheduling a tour.
Personal tours are given every day of the week at your request!
