Meet a Dad: Dan Casterella, CEO of American Christmas - Sound Shore Moms of Westchester

We’re thrilled to chat with Dan Casterella, local expert in holiday cheer. He’s a committed community member and the CEO of American Christmas, the company behind the breathtaking holiday displays that bring New York City’s most iconic locations—like Rockefeller Center, Radio City, and Saks Fifth Avenue—to life each season.  American Christmas is inviting locals to enjoy their own holiday magic much closer to home with “Holiday Lane,” an immersive light and decor experience featuring over 100,000 lights and animated displays across themed areas. Open from November 9 through December 29 at Christmas in America in Mount Vernon, Holiday Lane not only offers family-friendly holiday wonder but also gives back—all proceeds go to local nonprofits!

I have two kids—Chase, who’s 8, and Charlotte, who’s 6.

Tell us more about American Christmas, Christmas in America, and Holiday Lane!

Holiday Lane at American Christmas is truly something special—it’s where the magic of the holidays comes to life! For the third year in a row, we’re opening our showroom, transforming it into a stunning walk-through experience. It’s decked out with over 100,000 twinkling lights, charming animatronics, and several themed areas that capture the spirit of Christmas for both kids and adults. After the walk-through, visitors can stop by our Christmas in America store for some of the most unique and beautiful holiday decorations in Westchester. There’s really nothing like it!

How has your company evolved over the years?

We started off focused on New York, but now we’ve grown worldwide with offices in over 40 countries. We currently operate in 28 states, with over 90 full-time staff and around 300 seasonal staff.

What is your long-term vision for the company?

We plan to keep expanding across the U.S., especially in key markets. We’re also focused on growing in New York and continuing to develop our e-commerce platform, Christmas in America.

What are you most excited about going into the holiday season?

I love walking through the city during the holidays and seeing our work come to life—it’s such a rewarding experience.

Thank you for all that you do for our local community! What are some of the charities you support?

We support several organizations, including The Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club, Northeast STEM Starter Academy of Mt. Vernon, and the Youth Community Outreach Program of Mount Vernon.

How did you end up working in this industry?

I actually started out in college, taking a seasonal job to make some extra money, and I never left! Over time, I began managing overseas factory developments, and eventually worked my way up through management.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I love spending time with our clients, building relationships with the staff, and working with vendors from all over the world.

We love to support local! What are your favorite shops, restaurants, and things to do here in the Sound Shore?

I love Sherwoods in Larchmont and Oko in Rye. Honestly, give me any small, local shop, and I’ll be happy. I much prefer shopping at mom-and-pop stores and strolling through the towns to see what they have to offer.

We are so thankful for our amazing community and the wonderful people and places that are a part of it. Check out our Blog page for more features that highlight local businesses! Looking for something to do in the Sound Shore area? Visit our Local Guides and Calendar pages to stay in the know!
