Meet a Mom: Jersey Shore’s Jenni Farley! | Sound Shore Moms of Westchester

Jenni Farley (aka JWow) became reality tv royalty with Jersey Shore. Since then, she’s stayed in the public eye with popular stints on spin-off Snooki and JWow, and on the reunion series Family Vacation, now in its seventh season.  At the recent People’s Choice awards, she teased a Sammi and Ronnie reunion alongside her castmate Mike Sorrentino. While she’s remained in the public eye, she also opened an online boutique, Heavenly Flower, which features adorable seasonal and Jersey Shore-themed clothing for women and kids. But much of her time has been spent with her fiancé and two children—son Greyson, who will be 8 in May, and Meilani, 9.

Greyson was diagnosed with autism at age 2, and Jenni has been a staunch advocate for him as well as a shining light of information and encouragement for other moms with children on the spectrum. Recently, she spoke to Kelly Ripa about how her son was “crushing it” and how important early intervention has been to her journey.

For this week’s Meet a Mom interview, The Local Moms Network asked Jenni about her son’s autism journey, being mom friends with Snooki, and more.

We love that you shared Greyson’s diagnosis and amazing progress. What were the first signs you noticed of autism, before your son was diagnosed?
At the age of one, Greyson still wasn’t speaking or acknowledge any queues such as his name, his bottle etc. Concerned, I began to suspect that he might be deaf. However, after consulting an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist, we were relieved to discover that this was not the case.

Determined to find answers, we returned to his pediatrician, who guided us towards the next steps in uncovering the cause of his developmental delay. It was at the age of two that Greyson received a diagnosis of Autism. Thankfully, early intervention played a pivotal role in his journey. Witnessing his growth and witnessing him conquer every challenge along the way over the past six years has been nothing short of awe-inspiring.

How has early intervention helped Greyson?
Early intervention made such an incredible difference. ABA, OT and speech therapy have helped tremendously.

You and Snooki are still friends—do your kids get along?
Meilani and Giovanna are our mini-me’s. They’ve become best friends and they love spending time together.

Love that! You look amazing; how has your beauty routine changed since the Jersey Shore days?
I go to Dr. Mira Kaga for a variety of facial and laser treatments. These help keep my skin looking healthy and young.

What’s your mom mantra?
Don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re doing the best you can and you’re amazing!
