We are so excited to introduce you to Nancy Hart! We loved sitting down in such a beautiful space with wonderful smells so much that we didn’t want to leave after the interview was done! Have fun reading below and be sure to go visit!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I was born and raised in New Jersey and have lived in Harrison for the past 22 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Three children- two boys and a girl ages 26, 24 and 22 All of our children are actively involved in the running of our family business.  Our middle son runs our Buff City Soap division which currently has one retail store in Rye Brook, NY.

What Are Your Parenting Goals?
To raise kind, thoughtful, independent individuals

Favorite things to do with your kids?
At this point in our lives, I love anything that we can all do together- cook meals, travel, ski, golf-  and now we are all playing pickle ball- just simply a lot of fun for everyone!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
My husband and I own Buff City Soap in the Rye Ridge Shopping Center in Rye Brook, NY.  Buff City Soap is a rapidly expanding retail franchise known for its plant-based products which are handmade in our store.  We offer a vast array of soaps, bath bombs, laundry soap, body butter and more!  We train our employees in all aspects of running the store from making product to engaging with our customers.  One of the unique features of our store is the ability to customize the scent of many of our products.  At Buff City Soap you can zip in and grab what you want and leave… or spend some time getting to know yourself a little better by wandering around and finding the scent that speaks to you!  Once you find your scent, we can customize all of your products or you can do that yourself at our Makery. it is fun and you will feel and smell wonderful! Come by and see all of our amazing products for yourself and check us out on Instagram at @buffcitysoap.ryebrook

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I am an avid baker which is one of the reasons that becoming a Buff City Soap franchisee made so much sense for us. At Buff City Soap we make a lot of our products using a mix master. I am only half joking when I tell people we did this so I could “bake” with zero calories.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I am lucky to live in a community where everyone is open to ideas and excited to talk about new ventures and support each other.  This shared energy & local network of resources helps small businesses like ours go from ideas to realities.

Best advice you have gotten?
Live and work thoughtfully to gain Experience- but be aware that Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward…

What Song Puts You in a Good Mood?
Cover me in Sunshine sung by P!NK and her daughter Willow

Favorite Local Business?
Blooming Buds in Harrison- Laura is a master in her field and knows what I like.  Having that type of relationship is what makes a small business so special.

Congratulations Nancy & Spencer on winning Best of Westchester!
