Meet Oleksandra! | Sound Shore Moms of Westchester

Moms, Meet Oleksandra Stelmah!   A maternity, newborn, and child photographer serving NYC, Westchester County, and surrounding areas. Her passion is to help capture the most precious moments from your family’s journey to (and through) parenthood.

Tell us a little bit about yourself ?

Originally from Ukraine, I moved to the United States as a teenager. More than a decade later, I am a wife and mother of two adorable boys living in Tarrytown, NY. Although I began my career in finance, my true passion in life has always been art.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I am a former competitive ballroom dancer and currently teach children’s dance classes. I also create and sell handmade crochet toys through my other business, Leinad Boutique.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Definitely my mom; without her I would not be able to pursue all of my dreams.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

We love to sing and dance!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization or a creative endeavor?

When my first son was born, I booked a professional newborn session. As I watched the photographer at work, I immediately fell in love with the art of photography. I signed up for a newborn photography workshop with a master newborn photographer (Ana Brandt) and shortly after, created Stelmah Photography.

Since that first workshop, I’ve dedicated every free moment to refining my craft. I’ve had the opportunity to work with hundreds of glowing moms-to-be, sweet babies, and spirited children. Every session is an opportunity to discover something new – and capture my clients’ most genuine, beautiful selves.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Tarrytown and the surrounding Westchester communities have been very supportive! Most of my business comes by word of mouth through client recommendations.

Any time saving tips when it comes to parenthood?

You have to be disciplined about your time, which is key to staying on track and managing everything.  Remember… when it gets really overwhelming, to take a deep breath, know it is all temporary and will pass.
