Community Synagogue of Rye

At Community Synagogue, we believe the purpose of an early childhood program is to provide a sensory rich environment where children feel safe to explore, experiment and ask questions. We offer children technology free experiences that feed their senses and support mindfulness for themselves and the world around them. Communication and language are crucial to a child’s education and are key in supporting early literacy. Equally important to our program is the development of social and emotional skills and the understanding of kindness, empathy and community. Universal human values are woven into our curriculum in ways that can be appreciated and understood by young children. Our goal is to provide a strong foundation that the children and their families can carry with them to elementary school and beyond.

French-American School of New York Preschool

Founded in 1980 as a one-classroom preschool, the French-American School of New York, FASNY is an international and bilingual N-12 day school educating more than 700 students on three campuses in Mamaroneck and Larchmont. FASNY’s bilingual preschool program begins at 3 years old and is play-based with an emphasis on language acquisition. The curriculum is interconnected, between themes and languages and across age groups, following the same structure, adding skills, and increasing challenges as the students go between grade levels. Liberty Montessori School

We at Liberty Montessori School realize how very important these early years are for learning. In our supportive and encouraging atmosphere, each child is free to inquire, discover and learn. We have been serving the community for over 50 years and our “home away from home” setting inspires individuality, creativity, and spontaneity. We work closely with parents, and the children to share and enjoy cultural experiences which give global vistas to broaden horizons and open a window of understanding and respect for all.

Montessori Garden

At the Montessori Garden, we pursue Maria Montessori’s philosophy that play is the work of the child.  Our school provides an environment where children can explore and foster independence, creative thinking, and curiosity. The curriculum includes traditional Montessori materials, seasonal lesson plans, math, language, and additional enrichment programs such as Spanish and art. Our goal in teaching children specific skills is not just to impart knowledge, but to instill lifelong habits of learning, questioning, and relating to others.

Rye Nature Center

Hiking the forest, catching dragonflies, digging for worms, and listening to songbirds – FRNC believes these activities are the best foundation for early childhood development. Our programs are based on the Swiss concept of forest kindergarten, which utilizes experiential, place-based, student-led activities with nature as the primary setting. Our staff creates an atmosphere that prioritizes the development of the whole child to create a dynamic for children to grow and succeed. We offer two preschool programs at Friends of Rye Nature Center:
-Five-Day Forest Preschool – Choose our morning or afternoon session (Monday through Friday)
Preschool Ecology – Choose one or two days a week to attend (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday mornings; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday Afternoons)

Our Preschool Ecology program and morning session of our Forest Preschool offer walking options to some local preschools if you are looking for full-day programs for your child.
